Ephesians 5:1-2
1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.(NAS)
I suppose I haven't been doing a terrific job lately of following this through. Perhaps because I've been "too busy." I haven't blogged recently. That in itself isn't really a problem, but I also have drifted away from the Word. Tonight is the first night this week I've been there (besides at youth group).
Thursday night for youth group we had a guest speaker. John Piper talked to us about the Gospel. Okay, so he wasn't actually there, it was a video.
His primary text was:
2 Corinthians 4:3-7
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,4 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.5 For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake.6 For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing greatness of the power may be of God and not from ourselves;(NAS)
The main point: the Gospel is salvation from hell, eternal life, redemption, Jesus' death and resurrection, but the common theme that brings all of this together is the opportunity to know the glory of Jesus. Without that, eternal life doesn't mean much.
